Paschal Nnaemeka, an agricultural expert with a deep commitment to food security, believes that Nigeria’s agricultural sector holds tremendous potential to address the country’s economic issues and create jobs, especially for young people. However, he points out that many young Nigerians overlook agriculture as a career because of hurdles like lack of access to funding, outdated practices, and poor infrastructure.

According to Nnaemeka, the key to unlocking this potential lies in modernization. He highlights that if there were investments in better infrastructure, training programs, and stronger market access, agriculture could become a profitable and attractive career choice for youth. He adds that practical support like grants, mentorship, and hands-on training will empower young Nigerians to approach farming with an entrepreneurial spirit, helping to make agriculture a stable and profitable path.

Nnaemeka also suggests that viewing agriculture as a modern and innovative industry will motivate more young people to consider it seriously, which would be beneficial not only for job creation but also for food security. By strengthening this sector, he believes Nigeria could reduce the number of young people looking for work abroad and position itself as a leader in food production across Africa.
