-Bayelsa.
Paschal Nnaemeka, CEO of Paschal Farms International and a leading advocate for food security, has strongly criticized the Nigerian federal government for its continued failure to address the destruction of farmlands by Fulani herdsmen. Speaking on the worsening crisis, Nnaemeka described the situation as a “national disgrace” that threatens the country’s agricultural sustainability and rural livelihoods.

“This government has completely abandoned its duty to protect farmers,” Nnaemeka stated. “Across the country, rural farmers are losing their hard-earned investments to unchecked herders, and the authorities remain silent. Now, Bayelsa has become the latest casualty, as popular musician Timaya has raised an alarm over the destruction of farmlands in his home state. How many more livelihoods must be lost before the government acts?”

Nnaemeka pointed to repeated reports by organizations like Amnesty International, which have documented the killings, displacement, and economic devastation caused by these attacks. He accused the federal government of enabling lawlessness by failing to hold perpetrators accountable.

“We are talking about a sector that employs millions of Nigerians and ensures our nation’s food security,” he continued. “Yet, instead of policies that protect farmers, we have a government that allows armed herders to destroy crops, kill farmers, and walk free. This negligence is fueling hunger, unemployment, and poverty.”

As the head of Paschal Farms International, which has invested heavily in sustainable agriculture, Nnaemeka called for urgent action. He urged the government to implement stricter policies to protect farmers, prosecute offenders, and establish structured ranching systems to end the recurrent conflict.

“This crisis is not just about farmers, it is about national survival,” he warned. “If the government fails to act decisively, Nigeria will face severe food shortages, and rural communities will continue to suffer. Enough is enough.”
