Agricultural experts often find themselves in some of the most unexpected and challenging situations when trying to reach rural farmers. It’s funny but also a bit crazy how the journey to bring sustainable farming solutions can turn into an adventure straight out of an action movie. Take, for example, the times I have had to cross a series of swamps and streams just to reach a remote farmer. The path is often muddy, slippery, and sometimes feels like it’s leading nowhere, but it’s all part of the job.

Yet, no matter how challenging the journey, the moment I see the farmer’s face light up with hope and excitement, it all becomes worth it. I am reminded that we are in the business of ensuring food security, not just in Africa, but globally. Every step taken, no matter how difficult, brings us closer to achieving this goal. It’s a fulfilling mission, one that I enjoy deeply, knowing that every swamp crossed and stream waded through contributes to a greater cause which is feeding the world.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
